University of Illinois – Chicago
Graduate Student – Communication & Media Studies
Interaction Designer & Project Manager
Nicole is a graduate student in the communication department at the University of Illinois – Chicago (UIC), where she is currently conducting research combining humanistic research, communication and culture, and the power of technology to transform society.
Outside of academia, these interests have clearly manifest in Nicole’s professional pursuits across the advertising and software industries, where she has worked as both a project manager and user experience designer. Guided by a human-centered design philosophy, Nicole has produced websites and applications for a variety of academic collaborators and healthcare clients. Notable projects include the implementation of enterprise software systems for healthcare clients across the country, as well as the co-planning and co-coordination of Water after Borders, an international water management summit at the University of Illinois, for which Nicole also produced design assets, promotional materials, press releases, and an event website.
Nicole’s current professional projects include a partnership with FJORD/Accenture Interactive to design a “digital storytelling” version of EcoPeace Middle East’s strategic vision for the Jordan River Basin, as well as extensive audience and user research on behalf of the UIC School of Public Health, with the aim of improving their website and student recruitment strategies.
